Rachel D. Scarpitti, M.Ed., NCC

My passion for working with children began 20 plus years ago when my career started at a nonprofit organization called Prevent Child Abuse Delaware.  It was there that the children taught me the depth of their insight, resilience, and need for their voices to be heard. I also learned that children thrive when they feel loved, supported, and safe.

As an Elementary School Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor for the last 19 years, I’ve continued to learn many lessons from my students.  I believe that it “takes a village” to raise a child and value collaboration between children, families, and communities when working to support a child. This has led me to an exciting opportunity at Counseling Associates of Delaware.

My role at Counseling Associates of Delaware is a little different.  While I do not offer individual counseling, I do offer the following two services:

  1. Psychoeducational Social Skills Groups: An inclusive group that provides children ages 6-10 a safe space to learn and practice invaluable interpersonal skills. Groups meet once a week for 6 weeks.

An example of a possible future group could include but is not   limited to:

*a “changing families” group for children experiencing a significant change at home (i.e. divorce, remarriage, blended families, and the addition of a family member to the home ).

  1. Staff Training for Camps and After School Programs: “Helping Children Navigate Social Situations” is an 1.5 hour interactive workshop designed to share information about creating an inclusive social environment and helping address and meet the social needs of children.

*Trainings on additional topics can be accommodated upon request.
